Community Standards

How 7BillionMinds maintains a high-quality, trustworthy platform where every question adds genuine value to global discourse.

Our Content Philosophy

7BillionMinds exists to capture the diversity of human opinion on questions that matter. Unlike social media platforms where content is ephemeral and algorithms determine visibility, every question posted here is permanent, public, and treated with equal importance. This permanence demands a higher standard: each question must earn its place in a growing archive of human thought.

We believe that the constraint of yes/no questions is a feature, not a limitation. It forces clarity of thought, eliminates ambiguity, and produces data that can be meaningfully analyzed across demographic dimensions. A well-crafted yes/no question can illuminate the full spectrum of human opinion more effectively than an open-ended survey with a dozen response options.

AI-Powered Quality Assurance

Every question submitted to 7BillionMinds passes through a two-stage AI quality gate before it goes live on the platform:

Stage 1: Semantic Uniqueness Check

Our semantic AI engine compares every submitted question against the full database of existing questions — not by matching keywords, but by understanding meaning, context, and intent. This prevents the platform from accumulating rephrased versions of the same question. Two questions about similar topics are allowed if they ask fundamentally different things, but a paraphrased version of an existing question is caught and flagged.

Stage 2: Quality & Coherence Review

The AI also evaluates each question for quality: Is it a complete, coherent sentence? Is it genuinely answerable with yes or no? Is it a meaningful question, not a statement, command, or gibberish? Questions that fail this check are returned to the author with a specific explanation and a prompt to revise. There is no way to bypass this check — quality enforcement is mandatory for every question.

What Gets Published

A question is published on 7BillionMinds when it meets all of the following criteria:

  • Unique: No semantically equivalent question exists in the database. Our AI understands meaning, not just words, so rephrased duplicates are caught even when the wording is entirely different.
  • Clear: The question is a complete, grammatically coherent sentence that a reasonable person can understand without additional context.
  • Binary: The question is genuinely answerable with Yes or No. Questions that require a scale, multiple choice, or open-ended response are flagged for revision.
  • Substantive: The question invites genuine opinion or reflection. Trivially obvious questions, test posts, and questions with universally agreed-upon answers do not add value to the archive.

Demographic Data Integrity

The demographic analytics that make 7BillionMinds unique depend on accurate, self-reported data. When users create an account, they are invited to optionally provide their age, gender, nationality, religion, and ethnicity. This information is:

  • Voluntary: No demographic field is required. Users who prefer not to share demographic data can still vote, ask questions, and use all platform features.
  • Aggregated: Individual votes are never publicly linked to specific users. Demographic data appears only in aggregate visualizations (e.g., "72% of voters aged 18–25 said Yes").
  • Snapshotted: Demographic data is captured at the moment of voting and stored with the vote record. If a user later updates their profile, existing vote records are not retroactively changed.

Vote Integrity

Every vote on 7BillionMinds is cast by an authenticated user with a verified email address. The platform enforces strict one-vote-per-user-per-question rules: you cannot vote twice on the same question. You can change your mind (switch from Yes to No or vice versa), and these changes are logged in our vote change tracking system, but you cannot inflate results with multiple votes.

The platform does not use any form of vote weighting, algorithmic ranking, or editorial curation of results. Every vote counts equally, and the results displayed are a direct, unfiltered reflection of how users voted. The demographic breakdowns are computed directly from the vote records with no sampling, modeling, or adjustment.

Privacy Protections

Privacy is foundational to the platform. Users interact publicly through chosen usernames only — real names and email addresses are never exposed to other users in any context (question cards, comments, search results, or public profiles). We do not sell, share, or monetize personal information. Full details are available in our Privacy Policy.

The Permanent Archive

Every question published on 7BillionMinds is intended to be permanent. This is not a platform for ephemeral polls that disappear in 24 hours — it is a growing, searchable archive of human opinion. Each question has its own unique URL that remains accessible indefinitely, accumulating votes and demographic data over time.

The permanence of the archive is what gives it value: a question posted today can be revisited months or years later to see how opinion has shifted. This long-term perspective is rare in the polling landscape and is one of the primary reasons the platform exists. We maintain the technical infrastructure to ensure that every question page loads quickly, renders correctly, and serves its structured data to search engines for maximum discoverability.
